- Taiwan officials say President Chen Shui-bian will not make a transit stop in the United States as he returns home from a tour of Latin America.

- Abe: Japan, China Agree to Discuss Gas Dispute

- Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe says Japan and China have agreed to discuss a dispute over the development of gas fields in the East China Sea.

- He did not offer specifics Tuesday about a fifth round of discussions aimed at determining which country has drilling rights to an area rich in oil and gas reserves near Okinawa.
