  • Gary Locke: China Impeding American Business
  • 美商务部长:中国伤害美国企业
  •   U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke wants China to open its markets to more American business, but says the Chinese government is hampering that effort.
  • 美国商务部长骆家辉希望中国向更多的美国企业开放市场,不过他说,中国政府正在阻挠这一努力。

  •   Speaking to a business group in Beijing Friday, Locke said American businesses are concerned with Chinese policies that he says "openly or implicitly discriminate against foreign firms."
  • 星期五在北京向商务团体发表讲话时,骆家辉说,美国企业对他所说的中国实行的「公开地或隐晦地歧视外国公司」的政策表示担心。

  •   One of the polices the United States is concerned about is an initiative encouraging the Chinese government to heavily favor domestic companies when buying goods and services.

  •   Meantime, China is urging the United States to ease restrictions on technology exports.

  •   Chinese state media quote a top commerce official (Vice Minister Ma Xiuhong) saying these restrictions are a "barrier for future cooperation."

  •   Locke is in China on a trade mission to promote American clean energy businesses, to help boost exports from the United States and to combat global climate change.

  • Clinton Denounces North Korean Sinking of South Korean Ship

  •   U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has denounced North Korea for the sinking of a South Korean warship, saying "provocative actions have consequences."
  • 美国国务卿克林顿谴责北韩造成韩国军舰沉没,她说「挑衅行為将带来后果」。

  •   Clinton condemned the incident during a joint news conference Friday with Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada in Tokyo, at the start of her three-nation tour of East Asia.
  • 克林顿星期五在东京同日本外相冈田克也出席联合记者会时对这个事件进行遣责;这是她对东亚叁国访问的第一站。

  •   She said this "cannot be business as usual" adding there must be an "international response."
