  • Peace Jirga To Start in Afghan Capital
  • 喀布尔将举行支尔格大会
  •   Afghan President Hamid Karzai is preparing to host a three-day conference in Kabul in hopes of crafting a national consensus on ending the nearly nine-year war.
  • 阿富汗总统卡尔扎伊準备在喀布尔主持一个為期叁天的会议,希望能够达成全国的共识,结束近 9 年的战争。

  •   The "jirga," or grand assembly, will convene Wednesday with about 1,600 delegates gathered under a large, air-conditioned tent.

  •   The delegates will come from every section of Afghan society, including tribal, provincial and religious leaders.

  • UN Report Shows Iran Expanding Nuclear Stockpile

  •   The United Nations nuclear agency says Iran is continuing to stockpile nuclear material and is preparing equipment to enrich uranium to higher levels.
  • 联合国的国际原子能机构说,伊朗在继续囤积核材料,并正在筹备设备,提炼高度浓缩铀。

  •   A restricted report by the International Atomic Energy Agency says Iran's stockpile of low-enriched uranium has grown to more than 2.5 tons.
  • 一份限制散发范围的国际原子能机构报告指出,伊朗已经囤积了超过 2.5 吨的低度浓缩铀。

  •   Iran recently brokered a deal with Brazil and Turkey to ship out 1.2 tons of its uranium in exchange for nuclear fuel.
