  • Shanghai Builds Underground Safety Bunker for 200,000 People

  •   A state-controlled newspaper in China says the country's most populous city, Shanghai, has built a vast, underground bunker to protect people in the event of a nuclear attack or other calamity.
  • 一家中国报纸报导,中国人口最多的城市上海建成一个巨大的地下防空掩体,以备在遭遇核袭击或是其他灾难时保护民眾。

  •   The Shanghai Morning Post reports the facility is 90-thousand square meters and connects to shopping centers, office buildings and apartment blocks through a series of tunnels.

  •   Chinese government-controlled news media say the northeastern port city of Dalian will build the country's first home-grown commercial magnetic levitation train line.

  •   Known as "maglev", the technology uses powerful magnets to suspend a train above its rails and drive it forward at high speed.
