  • Channel Tunnel Fire Almost Extinguished
  • 英法海底隧道大火基本扑灭
  •   French officials say a fire in the Channel Tunnel is now largely extinguished but firefighters are still working to lower the temperature and cool down secondary blazes.

  •   Thursday's fire in the tunnel that forms a rail link beneath the English Channel between Britain and France injured 14 people and forced a suspension of all railway services.

  • Hurricane Ike Takes Aim At Texas, Hundreds of Thousands Evacuate

  •   Hundreds of thousands of people have fled coastal areas of the U.S. state of Texas to escape the likely onslaught of Hurricane Ike.
  • 数十万人逃离了美国德克萨斯州沿海地区,以躲避颶风「艾克」。

  •   Authorities issued a mandatory evacuation order for areas south of Houston, including all of Galveston Island, and began transporting ill and elderly residents to temporary shelters in nearby cities.
