  • China Pledges Not to Use Force in China Sea Dispute
  • 中国承诺不因南海争端使用武力
  •   China said Tuesday it will not use force in disputes with its neighbors over the South China Sea, but delivered an implied rebuke to U.S. senators who say the U.S. military should safeguard navigation in the strategic waterway.
  • 中国星期二表示,中国不会因為跟邻国的南中国海争端而动用武力,但含蓄反驳了美国一些联邦参议员;这些参议员说,美国军队应该保护这片战略性水道的自由通航。

  •   At a regular press briefing in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said China will not "resort to force or threat of force" in its simmering territorial disputes with Vietnam and the Philippines.
  • 中国外交部发言人洪磊在北京举行的例行新闻发布会上说,中国在跟越南和菲律宾激化的领土争端中,不会 “诉诸武力,也不会威胁使用武力”。

  •   But Hong said some countries have released "groundless and irresponsible remarks" in an attempt to expand the disputes.

  • New Chinese Websites Recount Stories of Corruption

  •   Chinese Internet users are flocking to a rash of new websites where citizens describe how they bribed government officials.
  • 中国互联网用户蜂拥登录一系列新网站,在这些网站上讲述中国公民是如何向政府官员行贿的。

  •   One of the sites, called "I Made a Bribe," attracted more than 60,000 visitors in its first three days.
  • 其中一个叫 “我行贿了” 的网站创建头叁天就吸引了6万多人访问。

  •   The inspiration for the websites comes from a site ((www.ipaidabribe.com )) created last year by the India-based Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy.

  •   The Chinese anti-graft sites encourage people to describe the circumstances surrounding the bribes they paid, but urge them not to identify the officials involved.

  •   The operators say that is because they cannot verify the truthfulness of all the postings.
