  • European Nations Vow More Support for Afghan War

  •   Germany and the Netherlands have both pledged increased support for the war effort in Afghanistan.

  • US Economic Growth Speeds Up

  •   U.S. economic growth speeded up to a 3.2 percent annual rate in the last three months of 2010.

  •   Friday's report from the Commerce Department says the world's largest economy expanded 2.9 percent for the whole year.

  •   That is a sharp improvement over 2009, when the recession saw the economy shrink more than two percent.
