- Animal health officials in Malaysia say veterinary teams are killing thousands of birds to try to contain the country's first bird flu outbreak in more than a year.

- The Department of Veterinary Services said Thursday authorities killed nearly 14-hundred birds Wednesday and plan to slaughter at least two thousand more.
