  • Finance Ministers Meet as World Markets Plunge

  •   Leaders of the world's largest economies confronted a global financial system in shambles today (Friday) as they gathered in Washington to cope with a plunging stock market, a frozen credit market, and fears the world is headed for recession.

  • Former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari Wins Nobel Peace Prize

  •   The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari for his work negotiating peaceful solutions to conflicts from Namibia to Kosovo.
  • 诺贝尔和平奖授予了芬兰前总统马尔蒂.阿赫蒂萨里;阿赫蒂萨里因在包括纳米比亚和科索沃在内的各个地区,為和平解决衝突而进行协商的努力赢得这一荣誉。

  •   The Norwegian Nobel Committee said Mr. Ahtisaari's efforts over more than 30 years have contributed to a more peaceful world.
