- About 100 Dealths Every Day Due to Violence in Iraq

- United Nations humanitarian aid official Jan Egeland says the violence in Iraq is going unchecked, claiming about 100 lives per day.

- Jan Egeland says the victims include police recruits, judges and lawyers. He says women also have increasingly become the victims of so-called honor crimes.

- Japanese officials have approved new economic sanctions against North Korea, banning all North Korean imports and ships and most North Korean nationals.
