- Trials were set to begin Monday and Tuesday for three Tibetan Buddhist monks who have been charged with murder in the self-immolation of another monk.

- Two of the monks are accused of plotting, instigating and helping 16-year-old Rigzin Phuntsog to burn himself to death at the Kirti Monastery in southwestern Sichuan province on March 16.
