- China, Vatican Discuss Normalizing Relations

- Chinese state media report China and the Vatican have discussed normalizing diplomatic relations. The head of the State Administration for Religious Affairs, Ye Xiaowen, is quoted in the China Daily today (Monday) as saying the Vatican must agree to two conditions to restore ties with Beijing.
- 中國媒體報導說，中國和梵蒂岡討論了雙方外交關係正常化問題．中國日報星期一援引中國宗教事務局局長葉小文的話說，梵蒂岡要恢復與北京的關係，必須同意兩項條件。
- He said the Vatican must sever links with Taiwan and refrain from interfering in China's internal affairs. Ye said Beijing must continue to appoint its own bishops, but the government is open to discussion.
