  • China Supports Iran Dialogue, 'Peaceful' Nuclear Energy
  • 中国支援对话解决伊朗核问题
  •   China says it supports resolving the issue of Iran's nuclear program through dialogue, echoing comments made this week by U.S. President Barack Obama.
  • 中国发表了与美国总统欧巴马本週讲话类似的观点,表示支援通过对话解决伊朗核项目问题。

  •   But Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi told reporters in Beijing Tuesday that countries should be able to have and use nuclear technology for non-weapons purposes.

  •   He said China is opposed to anyone in the Middle East developing nuclear weapons.

  • US Lawmakers Press China on North Korean Defectors

  •   U.S. lawmakers have joined North Korean defectors in urging China not to return refugees from North Korea to their homeland.
  • 美国议员和朝鲜叛逃者敦促中国不要将朝鲜难民遣返回国。

  •   The U.S. Congressional Executive Commission on China held a hearing Monday to highlight the urgency of the situation of dozens of North Koreans who recently fled into Chinese territory.
  • 美国国会及行政当局中国委员会星期一举行听证会,强调最近逃到中国境内的数十名朝鲜难民的紧迫境况。

  •   Representative Chris Smith, a Republican from New Jersey and the head of the commission, says that in recent weeks Chinese authorities have detained potentially more than 40 North Koreans who have escaped to China.
